Meet Ashley: The Story Behind The Antique Rehomer
Hi, I’m Ashley Miller—the person behind The Antique Rehomer. I’m an antique and vintage décor dealer, a mom, and someone who believes beautiful old things deserve another chapter.
I’m based in Blairstown, New Jersey, and I’ve spent nearly a decade sourcing and selling antiques and vintage décor. Before antiques, I worked in marketing. Later, while staying home with my children, I built a business around finding pieces I loved and connecting them with people who would love them, too.
The Antique Rehomer has grown alongside my family. It’s been work, learning, and plenty of adapting. But at the heart of it is something simple: finding a piece with character and imagining where it could go next.
What catches my eye
I love pieces that make a room feel collected over time. Painted porcelain, blue and white ceramics, statement brass, primitive crocks, and original art are some of my favorites. I’m drawn to rich textures, beautiful details, and the kind of wear that comes from a life already lived.
My taste moves between moody old-world interiors, Victorian details, chinoiserie, and Grandmillennial decorating. I also love the warmth of a simple primitive piece. A gilded frame and a humble stoneware crock can both belong in a home that feels personal.
Sourcing is a big part of my work. I regularly buy through auction houses across the Tri-State area, along with other treasure-hunting stops. There’s research behind the excitement: looking at condition, studying marks, comparing pieces, and deciding what is worth bringing home. Sometimes the best decision is knowing when to walk away.
More than a listing
Live selling has become a big part of how I share my finds. On Whatnot, I can show a piece up close, point out details, answer questions, and talk with the people who might give it its next home.
I also organize themed live-selling events and created the monthly Antiques Showcase. Bringing dealers and collectors together has become one of the most meaningful parts of this business. There’s so much to learn from one another, whether you’ve collected for years or you’re buying your first antique.
I want people to feel comfortable asking questions. You don’t need a house full of antiques or a perfect decorating plan to start. One piece you love is enough.
A new chapter
After years of balancing motherhood and a business, sourcing had started to feel more like work than the thing that first drew me in. Lately, with my kids in school and more time to get out and hunt, that excitement has been coming back.
It turns out the light was still flickering. Now it feels like it’s on again.
This blog is part of that new chapter. It’s a place to share the stories behind the finds, what I learn along the way, and a little of the life behind The Antique Rehomer.
Raising the future & bringing back the past.
That line has always felt like me: caring for my family while helping pieces from the past find a place in the present.
Thank you for being here, whether you’ve joined my live shows for years or just found your way to this site. I’m glad to have you along for the next treasure hunt.
